Stortown prides itself on being an active part of the community and what better way to embrace this community spirit than by joining in the Curro Hillcrest Christian Academy Winter Fair 2013.
Stortown were proud sponsors of the annual event for the third year running and the unbelievable turn out from the Hillcrest locals is especially wonderful to see.
One of the main attractions this year was a performance by Idols former winner and KZN’s very own Jason Hartmann who is an inspiring musician and all around nice guy. “Rock ‘n ride 4 rhino” is an initiative he is working on to raise awareness about the tragic poaching of rhinos in KZN and all around South Africa. The other main attraction and one which was sure to create a stir, was the Pancake Cook-Off Event. The battle to create the best pancake stand was a challenge that the International Hotel School students took to with ease and they kept the vibe and entertainment going around their pancake stations.
A highlight for the little ones (and some parents) was the train ride which had a constant queue throughout the day and the climbing wall looked like a hit with the slightly older children. There was a wide selection of food stalls such as Stretto’s pizza and Afro’s Chicken and not to mention the ever popular fro-yo stall “Bella & Boo”.
For the mom’s and grans there was a wonderful array of shops in a 150 stall flea market and dads or granddads could be kept busy with displays by Suzuki Pinetown and Hillcrest Toyota. This really is an entertaining day out for the whole family and one not to be missed.
All we can say is it is definitely worth putting the fair in your diary for 2014. Be sure to look out for Stortown’s yellow umbrellas and balloons at next year’s fair and pop by and say hello to us!
